biological activity
Peonidin chloride is an O-methylated anthocyanin. As a major plant pigment, it gives flowers such as peonies a purple-red hue, hence the name, and also gives berries and vegetables a purple-red hue. Peonidin chloride has chemoprevention and anti-inflammatory activities against cancer cells in vitro, blocking the expression and transformation of COX-2 in JB6 P mouse epidermal cells.
